Gas Powered Bicycles -- For Those Who Need A Little Help
|

You know, age -- or debilitating illnesses -- catch up with most of us sooner or later. Many of us simply cannot function like we used to -- and if you're tempted to give up bicycling because you just can't make those petals go as fast -- or as far -- as you used to, you should look into the purchase of a gas powered bicycle.
One of the great things about gas powered bicycles is that, if your model has a 48 CC (or smaller) engine, that travels less than 20 mph, it may very well be legal to use them on your neighborhood streets or bike path. I would like to take a few moments of your time to describe and recommend a few good-quality gas powered bicycles --
A great seller of gas powered bicycles is Island Hopper. They have one that I really like called "The City Rider." This innovative gas powered bicycle will fold down for easy storage and transportation. It comes with a Viper Engine, which is a 2 hp, 48 CC engine which will allow you to reach a minimum speed of 25 mph. And this gas powered vehicle is also very energy-efficient, giving you 35 miles to the quart!
Another great company offering a tremendous value in gas powered bicycles is Dimension Edge Inc. They have, for example, a Dahon Matrix fold-up bicycle, powered by a Honda engine. This gas powered bicycle is packed with extra power, and can reach speeds of up to 45 mph. It is also equipped with double wall rims on the wheels with black powder-coated stainless steel spokes and dual disc brakes. This gas powered bicycle costs $599 and the engine cost is $719 -- this makes a great off-road vehicle which will take you where you need to go.
Our next step? Spooky Tooth Cycles. One of their models of gas powered bicycles that I like a lot is their "Black Racer" -- they say it is inspired by motorcycling's period. This gas powered bicycle can be equipped with either a 48-CC or 80-CC bicycle engine. It features a low rider cruiser frame, and a dropped and trimmed vintage racing-style handlebar. This gas powered bicycle is also equipped with 26-inch radial wheels and thorn-resistant inner tubes, and a reproduced dark brown leather hairpin saddle. You can own this gasoline-powered bicycle for $725 (fully assembled) or for $575 (if you want to assemble everything yourself).
By the way, if you are of a mind to equip your existing bicycle with a gasoline engine, you can head over to Edge Sports -- they stock several different types of engines for gas powered bicycle conversions. For example, you can purchase a Honda Rear Mount GX25, 25-cc, 1.10 hp Four-Cycle Friction gasoline engine for your bicycle. This will mount on the rear of your bike in about 20 minutes! Cost? About $419. If you want a bit more power, you can purchase a Mitsubishi Rear Mount 43-cc, 2.2 hp friction-drive gasoline engine. This engine is extremely quiet, and is also approved for use in the state of California. It sells for $469. Installing your own gasoline engine is a great way to take a premium-quality traditional bicycle and convert it into a gas powered bicycle.
